Steve Scaffidi, WTMJ Radio Host and the former mayor of Oak Creek, will discuss his book, Six Minutes in August, and his community's incredible response to the shooting at the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin on August 5, 2012.
Scaffidi has worked extensively in media research, marketing, public relations and local government, and is currently the host of the Steve Scaffidi show, which airs from 8:30 a.m. to Noon, Monday thru Friday, on 620 WTMJ in Milwaukee.
Scaffidi served as the mayor of Oak Creek for five years, beginning in April of 2012. Four months after his election, a gunman killed six people at the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin. In the aftermath, he led a community response that called on his public relations and leadership experience, which is now considered a model for communities dealing with mass shootings.
He worked with former President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden on finding solutions to gun violence after the shootings in Aurora, Colorado, Oak Creek, and Newtown, Connecticut.
